Other than his signature on the wall, all the information we have on Allan Oliver comes from two sources. Firstly his “Returning PoW Questionnaire”, and, secondly, on-line PoW records.
We know that Oliver was born on 8th May 1920, and came from Dumbarton, Scotland. In addition, he was prisoner number 83117 at Stalag VIII-B Teschen (Cieszyn) and associated work camps, before being moved to Stalag 22A as part of the “Long March”.

Research on Genealogy sites did lead to a person with the same name and date of birth from the Keighley area of Yorkshire. However that person, though also a WW2 PoW, had no connection to Dumbarton.
