Still in Honfleur
So, what would today bring? Typical summer weather for 2012… drizzle! Very disappointing after yesterday’s glorious sunshine, however, undeterred (well, largely undeterred!) we set off to find the local supermarket to stock up on some food for our meals and the odd amount of liquid refreshment to avoid us dehydrating!
Having stocked up, it was back to the matterhorn-like spiral staircase for a leisurely breakfast whilst we waited for the rain to stop.
The afternoon saw us strolling around the harbour & out, past the lock gates & wartime bunker across the river towards the beach; looking back towards the harbour provided some interesting views of the
Pont de Normandie as well as the contrast between the beauty & “Olde Worlde” tranquility of Honfleur & the industrialisation of the chemical plants near Le Havre
The evening was spent finishing off our provisions whilst watching movies on my laptop over the available internet connection. Glyn & I both enjoy the “so bad they’re good” movies, however, having spotted a programme on YouTube which went through 50, we realised that there’s a lot out there that we were previously unaware of…
