Our first stop this year was a return visit to the Farriers Arms in Meersham. The villagers took over this brewpub when it closed back in 2009.

After a swift beer, we hopped on the Chunnel & set off to France.

This year we were picking up some First World War sites on the way out. Consequently, we stayed our first night at the Ibis Styles hotel near Bethune at Bruay la Buissière. You’ll notice that almost next door is a Trois Brasseurs brewpub. However, this was purely coincidental and had absolutely no impact on our hotel choice… honest.
