Straight there and a micropub!

So, a second trip to Normandy this year begins in relatively normal style. Off down the motorway to Folkestone ready for tomorrow’s trip across the Channel.

However, to our surprise, we found our B&B for the night almost immediately. This doesn’t happen often- even with the aid of SatNav! Then, having unloaded bags, we set off for the first pub of the evening. The Good Beer Guide listed Firkin Alehouse – a Micropub. It is basically a shop where the front is where people sit to drink, with the beer barrels racked up in the back. Very nice & unusual (if only because we found it straight away!).

A couple of beers later & it was time to move on for some food. We ended up in the Samuel Peto – a Wetherspoons pub that we’ve visited before. Then it was time for bed as we had an early start.
